A Clinic Designed for Women, by Women
Founded by Dr Ruth Blackham, a leading female bariatric surgeon in Perth, Aurora was created to offer a different kind of medical experience — one that’s patient-led, emotionally in-touch, and rooted in evidence-based medicine. After years of seeing women feel dismissed or overlooked in traditional healthcare settings, Dr Blackham envisioned something better.
She imagined a space where women could take control of their health with confidence and without judgement. A clinic where weight loss surgery isn’t seen as a last resort, but as a strategic, empowered choice in the journey toward better health.
Why 'Aurora'?
Aurora means “dawn” — a symbol of new beginnings, hope, and transformation. For many of our patients, choosing surgery or medical weight loss comes after years of trying everything else. Who We Help?
Aurora is a dedicated weight loss and metabolic health clinic for women. Many of our patients are in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. Some are navigating perimenopause, PCOS, Type 2 diabetes, or insulin resistance. Some simply want to move more freely, feel better in their bodies, and stop the cycle of diets that never last and take a sustainable, medical approach to weight loss.
